Forty-five percent of U.S. deaths from heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes are tied to a poor diet, a new study from Tufts University shows. The researchers focused on 10 foods and nutrients known to affect health. They found that the risk for death was linked to eating not only too much of the bad choices, but also too little of the good ones.

Treatment is Important for Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial fibrillation (AF) causes rapid heartbeat and raises the likelihood of developing blood clots. These clots can form in the heart and travel to the brain, where they can cause stroke. As many as 15 percent of strokes are a result of AF. For many with AF, blood thinners can lower their risk for stroke. Unfortunately, most patients either aren't taking these medications or aren't taking them in the right amount, according to a new study.
